Anderson’s Personal Support Worker - Hybrid program combines online with traditional learning and two Externship modules. As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you provide daily care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, or illness. You work alongside and under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse.
The program can be completed in 27 weeks, including 5 weeks of clinical / long-term care and 3 weeks of community care externships. The externship focuses mainly on caring for elderly patients and covers topics of abuse and safety, cognitive impairment, mental health issues, and personal hygiene. In addition, you will discover and practice the interpersonal skills which will be invaluable to your career as you care for and support your clients with dignity, kindness and respect.

The overall program goals and objectives are aligned with Sonography Canada’s National Competency Profile Version 6.0.
Sonography is a regulated profession in Ontario under the guidance of the CMRITO – College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (www.cmrito.org).
Upon successful completion of this program students will also be eligible to challenge the American Registry Exam for the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)

Monica has been a Registered Nurse since 2004 and has since worked in both hospital and community settings. Throughout her nursing career she has provided health education and nursing care, engaged in research activities, and delivered supportive counselling and life skills programming.
Monica received her RN Diploma from Durham College before going on to achieve a BSc in Nursing from York University. She also holds a BA in Sociology from York University.

The program is 43 weeks in length, including an 9-week practicum with on-the-job training, which will take place offsite with potential employers. It is a comprehensive program with learning outcomes aligned to the Canadian Pharmacy Technician Educators Association (CPTEA), and the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) competencies.
The program includes a 9-week clinical practicum period as well as a well-rounded combination of in-class instructions and rigorous laboratory practice to ensure you are professionally competent to enter the profession and build a rewarding career.
