This program is 60 weeks, including a 420-hour practicum with on-the-job training, offsite with potential employers. Our Health Information Management Diploma program covers the areas of study that will ensure you are highly skilled and in demand upon graduation. Educational content includes areas such as healthcare laws and ethics in Canada, health information analysis, systems and technology, electronic health records, database management, statistics for health sciences, project management, workplace communications and more.

As a Health Information Management (HIM) professional, you will be able to contribute to healthcare delivery as a member of the healthcare team and manage health information services in various facilities. You will work with confidential health records, format, content, quality, use technologies to capture, manage and analyze data and prepare, analyze, and present health information for use in healthcare delivery and financial and management planning.

You will have the chance to interact with medical staff, health providers, and management. You may specialize in areas such as research, management, quality improvement, risk analysis, clinical trials, and clinical financial resource integration and maintain skills, knowledge, and expertise through mandatory Continuing Professional Education (CPE).

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

The overall program goals and objectives are aligned with Sonography Canada’s National Competency Profile Version 6.0.

Sonography is a regulated profession in Ontario under the guidance of the CMRITO – College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (www.cmrito.org).

Upon successful completion of this program students will also be eligible to challenge the American Registry Exam for the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)

CCHIM CERTIFIED

Candidates who successfully write the CHIM national certification examination (NCE) earn a CHIM professional designation. This examination assesses the entry-level competencies of graduates of accredited Health Information Management programs.
