This program is 54 weeks, including a 400 hours practicum with on-the-job training, offsite with potential employers. Our Community Service Worker (CSW) Diploma program is designed to offer students a foundation of knowledge in a variety of areas including: conducting a practice with individuals, families, children, youth and communities, the legal aspects of social work, crisis prevention, substance abuse, psychology and administration, to name a few.
The CSW program also involves a great deal of small group work, practice interviews, and exercises in self-awareness. Students will practice with families and individuals, understand the human health model, and explore research methods. Students will gain the knowledge and experience to prepare them for working with clients from a range of age groups, with a variety of social and emotional issues.

This program is accredited by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). As a community service worker, you have compassion for others and work diligently to ensure that those in need are connected to the social assistance and community services available for them to help cope and deal with their personal and social challenges.
You have the ability to work well with people, interviewing clients and assessing their strengths and needs. You are resourceful and detail oriented and develop plans of action to help them explore their eligibility for benefits and programs.

The overall program goals and objectives are aligned with Sonography Canada’s National Competency Profile Version 6.0.
Sonography is a regulated profession in Ontario under the guidance of the CMRITO – College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (www.cmrito.org).
Upon successful completion of this program students will also be eligible to challenge the American Registry Exam for the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)

Monica has been a Registered Nurse since 2004 and has since worked in both hospital and community settings. Throughout her nursing career she has provided health education and nursing care, engaged in research activities, and delivered supportive counselling and life skills programming.
Monica received her RN Diploma from Durham College before going on to achieve a BSc in Nursing from York University. She also holds a BA in Sociology from York University.

For Social and community service workers, over the period 2019-2028, new job openings (arising from expansion demand and replacement demand) are expected to total 67,700, while 64,200 new job seekers (arising from school leavers, immigration and mobility) are expected to be available to fill them.
The program is 43 weeks in length, including an 9-week practicum with on-the-job training, which will take place offsite with potential employers. It is a comprehensive program with learning outcomes aligned to the Canadian Pharmacy Technician Educators Association (CPTEA), and the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) competencies.
The program includes a 9-week clinical practicum period as well as a well-rounded combination of in-class instructions and rigorous laboratory practice to ensure you are professionally competent to enter the profession and build a rewarding career.
